Sale Pamono Statue in Alabaster and Marble Representing Helen and Paris, 1900s

Statue in alabaster and marble representing an embracing couple, probably Helen and Paris. In order to create a contrast, the bodies of the figures are made of alabaster and the clothes of marble. The male figure, Paris, wears a short chiton (tunic) and his curly hair is covered with a headband. He is holding Helen, wearing a long peplum, and clutching her hand to his heart. The theme is often repeated since the nineteenth century when ancient influences are regularly brought up to date. This is an early 20th century work.
