Pamono Vintage 9 Karat Gold Volcanic Rock Amalfi Coast Cameo Souvenir, 1970s> Necklaces

Vintage Italian Amalfi coast souvenir from the Grotta di Masaniello, a volcanic rock cameo pendant on 9kt gold chain. The lava rock is from Vesuvius.

The cameo itself is a portrait image, in relief, of a Roman centurion, it is not particularly fine art but it is charming and a great talking piece.

This was purchased by on a trip to Italy in the 1970s and the cameo pieces were purchased directly from the cave of Masaniello. Once returned to the UK the cameo pieces were mounted by a London jeweller and strung onto the gold chain. It has never been worn and has remained for the last 50 years in a jewellery box waiting for someone to love it properly.
