Phelie was designed in 2018 and was made entirely by hand in Italy. The thin and laminated wooden decorations are meticulously applied. Each element is planed and has a particular shape. Thanks to the reduced thickness and free accessories, it is a light and playful object. The shapes were inspired by the ‘tangram’, an ancient game linked to the search for the essence of beauty, and its soft materiality fits into different furnishing contexts. The design works with subtle asymmetries to create small suspensions in the reflection. The openings and intervals allow one to observe and reflect on oneself. Phelie is a practical object. The three horizontal rods contain hooks and containers that can be removed and rearranged, which allows one to decorate with freedom. Phelie is a real wardrobe where one can hang everything from the bags of the little ones to the guests’ coats but it is also a support station. It is ideal for pleasant moments, such as ‘make-up and dress’ time before going out. The basic accessories supplied are five hooks, one container, one shelf (larger quantities on request), and a wall mount.
