Paul Mishel, born in Danzig, was a master student of the renowned landscape painter Eugen Bracht. During his career, he found inspiration for his atmospheric paintings in his travels through Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, and Norway. from around 1890, he resided in Friedrichshagen near Berlin, where he befriended members of the Friedrichshagen Poets’ Circle, such as Wilhelm Bölsche and Bruno Wille.
The painting is signed in brown oil paint on the lower right corner as “P. Mishel, Ulm 90”.
The painting is well-preserved, with slight signs of aging, and is presented in a beautifully ornate frame.
