Wonderful, large pair of wooden sculptures entirely hand-carved, depicting two tigers in different positions, unique pieces of the highest artistic level. Attributable to the sphere of Asian artistic expression, or China or Japan, or even Thailand. One sculpture depicts a tiger in hunting gear ready to attack its prey and the other depicts a mother with a large tiger intent on defending its cub, both dating back to the first decades of the 20th century. The dimensions of the two sculptures are important as they are both very large and the patina that covers the two objects is beautiful, perfectly in line with our dating. The pair is unsigned and represents a fabulous example of Asian artistic craftsmanship.
