Francesc d’Assis Planas Doria (Sabadell, December 6, 1879 – Barcelona, ​​December 29, 1955) was a Catalan painter of great renown within the post-impressionist movement. He was born in Sabadell, where he began to be interested in art from an early age. He trained at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts and, throughout his career, developed a technique that fused the color and light characteristic of Impressionism with greater structural solidity and a realistic approach typical of Post-Impressionism.

Planas Doria stood out mainly in portraiture and landscape, his works being recognized for their vibrant chromatic quality and attention to detail. In his landscapes, a clear influence of the painters of the Catalan school and the natural environment of his region is perceived, often represented with a light and an atmosphere that evoked the modernity of his time. Throughout his life, he participated in important exhibitions and was a reference in Catalan painting at the beginning of the 20th century.

His style evolved towards a more nuanced and thoughtful approach, which allowed him to capture both the beauty of nature and the emotional complexity of human portraits.
