Pair of Carved and Gilded Baroque Columns. A pair of gilded wooden columns carved with relief plant motifs. These Italian twisted columns are entirely gilded and carved with plant and floral motifs. They are interior columns. They rest on cubes with gilded moldings and non-contemporary ochre-colored lacquered wooden pedestals, made in the last quarter of the 20th century. They date back to the mid-17th century and are in good condition. They are of Italian origin and come from a private collection in Milan. The two bases measure 24 x 24 x 24 cm, while the circular base of the column measures 13 cm in diameter. The support surface has a central hole and is not gilded; see photographic details. Ideal as supports for sculptures, flower vases, or candle holders, these gilded columns are elegant decorative elements. One of the two columns can be removed from the base; the other is fixed to the base.
