Pamono Bas-Relief Plaque Sculpture of Saint Christopher with Baby Jesus from Le Tre Aaa, Turin, Italy, 1920s> Wall Decor

A delightful cast ceramic plaque (ceramic with added kaolin, also known as soft porcelain) with a rich vitrification, entirely decorated with airbrushing and attributable to a Turin factory, made around 1920-1930. Unfortunately, the signature is not visible, likely because the plaque is surrounded by a contemporary metal frame, presumably brass or bronze, which covers the signature. The bas-relief decoration depicts Saint Christopher with the baby Jesus on his shoulders, the protector of travelers. On the back is the artist’s handwritten inscription, “Whoever trusts you, travels safely and on a serene road.” In our opinion, this plaque is attributable to the Turin factory Tre A “AAA.”
