These beautiful hand made terracotta plant pots with their uniquely striped glazing, originated from the pottery town of Castelnaudary in the South West of France.
Cache pots were used to hide non descript terra cotta plant pots inside.
These pots have drainage holes from when they were first produced, therefore they could have been used as either “cache pots” or actually had plants growing directly within them.
The potteries in Castelnaudary were producing these style of pots, amongst others for 50 years. This was from the mid 19th to early 20th century.
