Pamono 19th Century Plaster High-Relief Sculpture Borghese Dancers> Architectural Elements

Plaster sculpture, Siena earth color, where 5 representations of Hora, Roman goddess, stand by the hand and dance. from the front, profile or back, these ancient women have an identical hairstyle finished in a bun. They wear long draped – or chitons – and are barefoot.
In the background and between each of the characters, Corinthian pilasters adorn the Greco-Roman spirit of this work.
The scene is based on an advance of ten centimeters.
This sculpture, with a pretty shade and the subtle nuances, is provided with 2 iron rings that will allow its suspension, or its simple security on the wall.
On the back, a plaque bearing the inscription “Musage workshops for national museums – R.F.” attest to its origin and the quality of its manufacture.
This high relief, also called “the hours accompanied by graces or charity”, is inspired by the original, in marble, exhibited at the Louvres Museum, and dating from the 2nd century AD. It was initially placed in the large gallery of the Villa Borghese, in Rome, hence the name given to these 5 divine figures, also taken up by Joseph Chinard in 1792.
