Georges Lemmen (1865–1916) was a Belgian painter and graphic artist, known for his role in Neo-Impressionism and Art Nouveau. He was born in Schaerbeek and became part of the artistic scene in Brussels at an early age. In 1888, he joined the artist group Les XX, where he was inspired by Georges Seurat and began working in the pointillist style. Around 1895, he left pointillism behind and began painting in a softer and more intimate Impressionist style. His works often focused on landscapes, portraits, interiors, and still lifes, conveying a sense of calm and harmony. Lemmen also worked in decorative arts, including posters, ceramics, and wallpaper design, and played an important role in the Art Nouveau movement in Belgium. He died in 1916, but his works live on in museums such as the Musée d’Orsay.
