New Pamono Painted Folk Art Chest

Beautiful painted bridal chest from southern Germany, from Franconia to be exact. The coffin has a very rustic look and shows plenty of character. It is primarily painted in a soft blue color and decorated with panels with floral and religious paintings. This original paint is quite worn (especially on the lid) which gives the whole a highly decorative appearance. The chest is in a clean but used condition. There are sporadic traces of old woodworm, which of course have been checked and treated. There are also some old repairs on the inside and the chest was later equipped with sled feet so that it stands just off the ground. It used to be customary to give wedding furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was afterwards placed on the farm in a showroom that was only rarely used for high visits or special occasions. So a beautiful and decorative piece of history. 52cm high, 129cm wide, 66cm deep.
