*Sala Gaspar was founded in 1909 by Joan Gaspar Xalabarder in Barcelona. Originally intended as a frame store, it eventually began exhibiting works by artists who were friends of Xalabarder. After the Spanish Civil War, the Gaspars became friends with Pablo Picasso and organized the first Picasso exhibition in Spain. These exhibitions eventually included other prominent artists such as Joan Miró and became an important cultural and social landmark in Barcelona.
