Original Lithograph – Cover by Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) for the issue #15 of L’Estampe Moderne – July 1898

L’Estampe Moderne appeared in 1897-1899 as a series of 24 monthly fascicles, each containing 4 original lithographs, printed by Parisian Imprimerie Champenois. Many accomplished European Art Nouveau painters contributed works to this publication, which contained only Original prints invented and produced especially for this collection. The publication was edited by Charles Masson and H. Piazza. Each issue came in a paper cover bearing an original lithograph by Alphonse Mucha.

This very lithograph was issued for the issue #15, i.e. the third issue of the second year.
It is in good condition (see images and below) and, most important, it is complete – both front and back

IMPORTANT:

. We do not crop images, and especially we do not crop artworks! Since the publication of this artwork during the peaceful and exuberant Belle Epoque, many things happened. And most of these lithographs have been lost or, even worse, cropped, in order to frame the image of the pensive girl holding a brush without the surrounding text, or otherwise to get rid of the rear part of the cover. We have been lucky enough to find this cover in very good condition and full size including its back, only with a few normal signs of age like a couple of stains in the text (not affecting the image), but without any major or even minor defect. The page cutting is jagged as it was when issued. Thus, we want to preserve this artwork in this way, and show it clearly as it is: beautiful, precious, and complete.
