Hot Pamono Batman Daybill Movie Poster, Australia, 1966

“For the first time on the motion picture screen in color!” Printed in stunning stone lithography, this fabulously kitsch and colourful Australian Daybill poster advertised the first full length feature film of the DC Comics character Batman. Released by 20th century Fox in 1966 as a big screen version of the popular 1960s TV series, the film starred Adam West as the titular superhero and Burt Ward as Robin in a tongue-in-cheek parody of the old 1940s movie serials. The poster design sees the dynamic duo flanked by four of Gotham city’s most notorious villains – the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler, and the Catwoman. Printed in Australia by Robert Burton Pty. Ltd., Sydney.

Although printed in Australia, this poster was specifically made to be used in New Zealand, as indicated by the lack of printed rating which can be seen on the version for Australian use.

CONDITION
Conservation backed on linen. Backing has smoothed and diminished the standard two horizontal machine folds. Minuscule spots of colour touching to six staple holes, predominantly located in margins with a couple through image.
