This elegant antique fruitwood “Secretaire a Abattant” was made in France, circa 1890; tall secretary desk with classic straight lines features a shaped top over a frieze drawer. The front opens to reveal a fully equipped lemongrass interior theater decorated with three working drawers and a wide-open niche for books and letters. The writing surface is upholstered with a black leather cover. The bottom has three drawers for additional storage. The desk is in excellent condition and has a rich walnut patina; It would be a useful addition to a small library or study, because it can be quickly folded down to create more space.
