The artist’s signature, Lucien Genin, is located in the lower left corner.
On the back, there is a label from the JM Bernard Gallery, explaining that this work was presented at an exhibition from November 14 to December 1, 1947, as well as the number 45.
The artist Lucien Genin was born in Rouen in 1894 and died in 1954. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Rouen, then at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the painter settled in Paris.
A painter of Paris, but especially of Parisians, he illustrates the liveliness of the City of Light at that time. He made several trips to Brittany and the French Riviera (Marseille, Cassis, Cannes, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Douarnenez, Rosmeur, etc.).
Genin lived and sold his gouaches in his neighborhood.
In 1932, one of his paintings won the Art Institute of Chicago Prize.
The Galerie Bernard, his new dealer, exhibited it regularly.
Good overall condition, unframed.
