Clearance Pamono French Artist, Landscape with River, Late 18th Century, Oil Painting

High rectangular landscape scene showing a small town on the river: in the foreground a wooden bridge that a farmer is crossing with his dog to get to a medieval abbey on the left bank of the river. On the river one recognizes some sailboats, on both banks smaller houses line the river. In the background, a mountain range is depicted in delicate blueness. The scene is framed on the right edge of the picture by a large oak tree. Due to the slightly naive view of the scene and the depicted probably southern French landscape, the painting can be attributed to a landscape painter from the French province at the end of the 18th century.
